Carrie Wheeler
Chief Executive Officer
Carrie Wheeler has served as our Chief Executive Officer and as a member of our board of directors since December 2022. She previously served as our Chief Financial Officer from September 2020 to December 2022. Ms. Wheeler also previously served as a member of our board of directors from October 2019 to September 2020. From 1996 to 2017, Ms. Wheeler was with TPG Global, a global private equity firm, including as a Partner and Head of Consumer / Retail Investing. Ms. Wheeler has served on the board of directors and on the audit committee of APi Group Corporation, a global provider of safety and specialty services, since November 2019 and on the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, where she is also chairperson of the audit committee, since September 2023. She previously served on the board and audit committee of Dollar Tree, Inc. from March 2019 to March 2022. Ms. Wheeler has also served on a number of other corporate boards of private and public companies, including Neiman Marcus Group (2005 to 2013) and Petco Animal Supplies (2006 to 2015). Ms. Wheeler received her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University in Canada.
Amelia Generalis
Chief People Officer
Amelia Generalis is Opendoor’s Chief People Officer. She leads Opendoor’s efforts to attract, develop and promote talent, as we scale and grow our culture. Amelia brings 25 years of experience working with both Fortune 50 global brands as well as hyper-growth public and late stage private companies. She most recently comes from 8x8, a cloud communications platform company, where she redesigned the employee experience — from attracting talent to driving performance — and she saw the company through several key acquisitions. She’s also held executive and management roles at Model N, Success Factors (acquired by SAP), Anaplan, Electronic Arts, and Royal Dutch Shell.
Sydney Schaub
Chief Legal Officer
Sydney Schaub serves as Opendoor’s Chief Legal Officer. In this role, she leads Opendoor’s legal team, navigating complicated regulatory and compliance issues while setting new standards across the technology and financial sectors. Sydney brings to Opendoor a wealth of experience supporting high-growth companies. Most recently, she was the Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Gemini. She has also held executive positions in the legal and corporate development functions at Rent the Runway and Square. Sydney is a founding member of TechGC, a community for legal executives to share knowledge and best practices and support each other through their lives and careers.
Christy Schwartz
Chief Financial Officer, Interim
Christy Schwartz serves as Opendoor’s interim Chief Financial Officer, in charge of Opendoor’s Finance and Accounting teams. Prior to her current role, she served as the Company’s Chief Accounting Officer, in charge of SEC reporting, SOX Compliance, Accounting, Procurement, Tax and Payroll. Prior to joining Opendoor, Christy was the Corporate Controller at Yodlee in Redwood Shores and supported Yodlee’s initial public offering and subsequent sale to Envestnet. Christy started her career in client services as an auditor with Ernst & Young and a forensic accountant with Huron Consulting Group where she served a variety of public and private clients domestically and internationally.
Megan Meyer Toolson
President, Sell Direct and Services
Megan Meyer Toolson is the President of Sell Direct and Services, in charge of Opendoor’s first-party business for buying and selling homes. Prior to this role, she served as the Company’s Chief Customer Officer, responsible for go-to-market efforts including consumer product, marketing, sales and support, in-market operations, and market expansion. Prior to her role as Chief Customer Officer, Megan served as our Head of Operations and in multiple other leadership roles since 2015, overseeing the day-to-day centralized and local activities required to efficiently buy and sell thousands of homes per month. She previously held positions at McKinsey & Company, Bain Capital, Hulu and Vessel.
